Edward Adams - University of Minnesota Professor
Edward Adams is a longtime University of Minnesota faculty member who serves as the Howard E. Buhse Professor of Law and Finance. Among his accomplishments is championing the values of equity and inclusion. The first in his family to graduate from college, Edward Adams has Choctaw heritage and grew up in financially constrained circumstances. He overcame barriers associated with lower economic and social status and strives to ensure that students of all backgrounds have the support they need to succeed academically and professionally.
Mr. Adams has also played a pioneering role in the implementation of educational technology at the University of Minnesota and has held the position of Director of Online Technology and Education since 1992. He has launched several companies throughout his career, and possesses extensive entrepreneurial experience in real estate, construction, and financial services.
In his academic work, Mr. Adams frequently explores the intersections of emerging legal and business practices. His recent papers cover topics such as alternative bankruptcy proceedings and cannabis business regulation. He maintains a strong community focus and has spearheaded several pro bono initiatives, including the launch of the People's Law Program on campus, which provides dedicated legal support to those who lack means.
